Distributed Bags & Notebooks — Government High School, Pangunatham Kottai

Date: Jun 05, 2026
Location: Government High School, Pangunatham Kottai

Summary:

On June 5, 2026, Rural Visionary Foundation visited Government High School, Pangunatham Kottai and distributed school bags and notebooks to the students. The programme was held at the beginning of the academic year, so that the children could start their classes with the materials they need already in hand.

Most of the students at this school come from families working as daily wage labourers and small farmers. For these households, buying bags, notebooks and stationery for every child at the same time is a real strain, and it often means one child has to make do with last year's worn-out supplies. Our aim with this initiative is to lift that burden, however small, and let families focus on keeping their children in school.

Every student received a school bag and a set of notebooks for the year. Our volunteers interacted with the students during the visit, encouraging them to stay regular in their studies and to think ambitiously about what they want to do after school. We also spoke with the teachers about the wider needs of the school, which helps us plan our future programmes around what is genuinely useful rather than what we assume is needed.

We thank the headmaster and teaching staff of Government High School, Pangunatham Kottai for welcoming us, and our donors and volunteers whose contributions made this distribution possible. Supporting education in the villages around Dharmapuri remains one of our core commitments, and we look forward to returning to this school in the years ahead.
